It does mention getting Hamachi, but doesn’t explain that you’ll be needing to use the Hamachi (virtual) IP. Unfortunately, the guide is NOT the best in one of the really important areas: how to draw with other people when you’re connected to a router (see more on networking in THIS guide’s “NETWORKING” section). Yeah, it has a lot of limitations (IMO, mainly in that the way it does layers is sort of retarded), but it’s a cool program.) Though it is pretty easy to learn the basics of openCanvas 1.1 on your own of in no time flat, that guide itself is still pretty swell - I learned a few things from having read through it that I didn’t know.
